Amendment to Notice—Fees Payable to Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa | Medical Council of New Zealand from 1 July 2022

Under sections 130–133 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Medical Council of New Zealand (“Council”) gives notice of an amendment to the notice titled Fees Payable to Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa | Medical Council of New Zealand from 1 July 2022 (“principal notice”) published in the New Zealand Gazette, 1 June 2022, Notice No. 2022-gs2135. This amendment notice comes into effect on 26 May 2023.

Introduction

In February 2023, Council agreed to establish a new pathway to registration in its provisional general scope of practice; Pathway 6 – United Kingdom General Registrants. This new pathway was gazetted in the New Zealand Gazette, 5 April 2023, Notice No. 2023-gs1359, and comes into effect on 3 May 2023.

This amending notice establishes the fee for applications for registration under that pathway. Under the Council’s activity-based fees structure, the new fee has been conservatively set at the same level as other existing pathways with equivalent processing requirements.
