COVID-19 Public Health Response (Authorisation of COVID-19 Orders) Notice (No 3) 2023

This notice is made by the Prime Minister under section 8(c) of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 after being satisfied that there is a risk of an outbreak or the spread of COVID-19.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Authorisation of COVID-19 Orders) Notice (No 3) 2023.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on 30 June 2023.

3. Interpretation

In this notice,—

health service means any of the following:

  1. a health service within the meaning of section 5(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003:
  2. treatment or social rehabilitation provided under the Accident Compensation Act 2001:
  3. disability support services within the meaning of section 4 of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022

premises includes

  1. commercial premises or private premises (whether indoors or outdoors); and
  2. premises owned or managed by central or local government (whether indoors or outdoors); and
  3. a vehicle.

4. Authorisation Relating to COVID-19 Orders

The Prime Minister authorises the use of COVID-19 orders under the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 in relation to the following matters:

  1. self-isolation requirements for COVID-19 cases:
  2. mask requirements in health service premises.

5. Expiry of this Notice

This notice expires on 31 August 2023.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

By this notice, the Prime Minister authorises the use of orders made under the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 (“Act”) in relation to the following matters:

  • self-isolation requirements for COVID-19 cases:
  • mask requirements in health service premises.

This notice comes into force on 30 June 2023 and will expire on 31 August 2023.

This notice replaces the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Authorisation of COVID-19 Orders) Notice (No 2) 2023 New Zealand Gazette, 27 April 2023, Notice No. 2023-sl1661, which authorised the same use of orders under the Act.

This notice is made by the Prime Minister after being satisfied that there is a risk of an outbreak or the spread of COVID-19.

The notice is one way in which the prerequisites for making a COVID-19 order under the Act can be satisfied.
