Extension of Reporting Timeframes for Persons in Charge of Animals Under the National Animal Identification and Tracing Act 2012 in the Northland Region

Pursuant to section 34(2)(a) of the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) Act 2012 (“Act”), I Helen Thoday, acting under delegated authority as Acting Chief Executive of National Animal Identification and Tracing Limited, which is the designated NAIT organisation, give notice of alternative time limits to those prescribed by Regulations made under the Act for the provision of information by any person in charge of animals (PICA).

The alternative time limits apply only to those PICAs with NAIT animals located within the Northland Region Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Area affected by heavy rain and flooding.

The alternative time limits are:

  • a person registering as a PICA under section 27(1) of the Act must do so by 17 February 2023.
  • a PICA making a declaration under section 31(1) of the Act must make it by 17 February 2023.
  • a PICA tagging an animal in accordance with regulation 20 of the NAIT (Obligations and Exemptions) Regulations 2012 must do so by 17 February 2023.
  • a PICA making a declaration under section 32(1) of the Act must make it by 17 February 2023.
