This notice is secondary legislation under section 451(9) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Marine Protection Rules Part 199 Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships

These rules were made by the Minister of Transport on 16 March 2022.

The making of rules in Part 199 was notified in the New Zealand Gazette, 4 April 2022, Notice No. 2022-sl1290, with commencement of the rules to come into force on a date they are applied, either wholly or in part, by further notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

In accordance with section 451(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice that the rules in Part 199 enter into force on 26 August 2022 except the following, which will be applied, either wholly or in part, by further notice in the New Zealand Gazette:

  1. the rules in subsection B8B:
  2. the rules in subsection B8C:
  3. the rules in section C3:
  4. the rules in subsection C8B:
  5. the rules in subsection C8C:
  6. rule 199.614:
  7. the rules in Subpart F:
  8. the rules in Schedule 2.

These rules are available for inspection free of charge, or for purchase, from Maritime New Zealand, Level 11, 1 Grey Street, Wellington, or on the Maritime New Zealand website at: www.maritimenz.govt.nz/rules.
