Pursuant to section 74 of the Legislation Act 2019 and section 448(2) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 (as it applied before 28 October 2021), notice is given that the Minister of Transport has made the following marine protection rules:

Marine Protection Rules Part 199 Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships

These rules were signed on 16 March 2022 and will come into force on a date the rules in Part 199 are applied, either wholly or in part, by notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

The empowering provisions under which these rules were made are sections 386, 387, 388, and 390 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Maritime New Zealand is the administering agency responsible for the rules.

These rules are secondary legislation for the purpose of the Legislation Act 2019.

These rules are available for inspection free of charge, or for purchase, from Maritime New Zealand, Level 11, 1 Grey Street, Wellington, or on the Maritime New Zealand website at: www.maritimenz.govt.nz/rules.
