Pursuant to Regulation 26 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries gives the following notice.

1. Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the Mātaitai Reserve at Mt Maunganui and Part of Tauranga Harbour – Te Maunga o Mauao Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2022.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on 7 September 2022.

3. Mātaitai Reserve

This notice applies to the Mātaitai Reserve at Mt Maunganui and Part of Tauranga Harbour – Te Maunga o Mauao Mātaitai Reserve – described in clause 4 of the Fisheries (Declaration of Mataitai Reserve at Mt Maunganui and Part of Tauranga Harbour and Appointment of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki Notice 2008 (No. F456) (New Zealand Gazette, 28 August 2008, No. 133, page 3486).

4. Appointment Cancelled

(1) The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has cancelled the appointment of Penetaka Dickson as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the mātaitai reserve:

(2) The cancellation took effect at the end of 28 August 2022.

5. Appointment

(1) The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has appointed Kia Māia Ellis as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the mātaitai reserve.

(2) The appointment took effect on 29 August 2022.
