Betting Rules Amendment Notice (No.1) 2021
Pursuant to section 76 of the Racing Industry Act 2020, TAB New Zealand hereby gives notice of the following amendments to the Betting Rules published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 25 August 2003, No. 113, page 2981.

These amendments to the Betting Rules are as follows:

(a) This Rule 14.18 applies to the following Betting Options:
(i) Fixed Odds Quinella (Rule 14.19);
(ii) Fixed Odds Exacta (Rule 14.20);
(iii) Fixed Odds Trifecta (Rule 14.21); and
(iv) Fixed Odds First4 (Rule 14.22),
(‘Fixed Odds Exotics’).
(b) Scratchings: Notwithstanding Rule 14.4, where an Entrant is scratched from a Race the following applies to bets made prior to the scratching:
(i) Bets on Selections which include that Entrant will be declared void and refunded, and the remainder of the bets placed on the Betting Option remain live. By way of example only:
Where an Investor places a Boxed Fixed Odds Quinella on Entrant 1, Entrant 2, and Entrant 3, the Investor receives bets on the following Selections:
Selection 1: 1x2
Selection 2: 1x3
Selection 3: 2x3
If Entrant 3 is subsequently scratched, then bets on Selection 2 and Selection 3 are void and refunded. Selection 1 remains live.
(ii) Where the Final Field Betting Deduction for Final Field Win Bets on a Race is greater than or equal to 10 percent, as determined by Rule 14.4 (and irrespective of whether the Deduction is applied by the TAB), then the TAB may (at its sole discretion) pay Returns on Winning Selections, for “Fixed Odds Exotics” Betting Options, on the basis of the Odds offered for that Selection immediately prior to the start of the Race (the Starting Price).
(iii) All bets will be declared void and refunded where scratchings reduce the number of starters in the Race to less than:
(iv) All bets will be declared void and refunded where the number of finishers in the Race are less than:
(c) Percentage Betting:
(i) Where the Investor chooses to place a bet on a number of Selections by way of Percentage Betting, the amount invested on each Selection is calculated by the following formula:

(ii) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in these Rules, the minimum amount that may be invested on any Fixed Odds Exotics Selection is $0.05.
(d) Dead Heats: In the event of a dead heat for any finishing position, resulting in more than one Winning Selection for a relevant “Fixed Odds Exotics” Betting Option, the amount to be paid for successful bets shall be calculated by:

By way of example only, where an Investor places a Boxed Fixed Odds Quinella on Entrant 1, Entrant 2, and Entrant 3, the Investor receives the following Selections:
Selection 1: 1x2
Selection 2: 1x3
Selection 3: 2x3
If Entrant 1 wins, and Entrants 2 and 4 dead heat for second placing, then the Return for Selection 1 will be divided by two (as there are two Winning Selections; 1x2, and 1x4).
The Winning Selection for a “Fixed Odds Quinella” Betting Option is the Selection that has first and second, in any order, as determined by the Official Result.
The Winning Selection for a “Fixed Odds Exacta” Betting Option is the Selection that has first and second, in the correct order, as determined by the Official Result.
The Winning Selection for a “Fixed Odds Trifecta” Betting Option is the Selection that has first, second and third, in the correct order, as determined by the Official Result.
The Winning Selection for a “Fixed Odds First4” Betting Option is the Selection that has first, second, third and fourth, in the correct order, as determined by the Official Result.
These Rules come into force on 12 January 2021.
