Notice of Proposals to Assign or Alter Geographic and Undersea Names
Pursuant to sections 16(2) and 16(3) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“Act”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of proposals to assign new or alter existing geographic and undersea names.
The proposed new or altered geographic and undersea names are specified in the first column of the Schedule below.
The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered geographic and undersea name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of each proposed new or altered geographic and undersea name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of the Schedule.
Submissions on these proposed assigned or altered geographic and undersea names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145, or email: nzgbsubmissions@linz.govt.nz, or website:
www.linz.govt.nz/regulatory/place-names/place-name-consultation
In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state, with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.
