Notice of National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity Amendment 2025
The Minister Responsible for RMA Reform acting for the Minister for the Environment hereby gives notice of amendments made under section 53(1) of the Resource Management Act 1991 to the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity 2023 (New Zealand Gazette, 7 July 2023, Notice No. 2023-go2999).
Pursuant to section 52(2) of the Resource Management Act 1991, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister Responsible for RMA Reform acting for the Minister for the Environment (having satisfied the requirements of that Act), approves the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity Amendment 2025.
This is the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity Amendment 2025.
This amendment to the National Policy Statement comes into force on 15 January 2026.
This instrument amends the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity 2023.
Insert new definitions:
ancillary activity means an activity that supports and is subsidiary to a primary activity.
quarrying activities means the extraction, processing (including crushing, screening, washing, and blending), transport, storage, sale and recycling of aggregates (clay, silt, rock, sand), the deposition of overburden material, rehabilitation, landscaping and cleanfilling of the quarry, and the use of land and accessory buildings for offices, workshops and car parking areas associated with the operation of the quarry.
