This notice is made under section 192A of the Fisheries Act 1996.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Exemption From Compliance with Section 192A(1) of the Fisheries Act 1996) Notice (No 2) 2025.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. Interpretation

In this notice:

“Bladder kelp” means a seaweed of the species Macrocystis pyrifera.

“Strap kelp” means a seaweed of the species Lessonia variegata.

“Special permit” means a special permit issued under section 97 of the Fisheries Act 1996.

4. Exemption From Section 192A(1) of the Fisheries Act 1996

Greenwave NZ Limited is exempt from section 192A(1) of the Fisheries Act 1996 in respect of bladder kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) and strap kelp (Lessonia variegata).

5. Condition

The following condition applies:

1. Greenwave NZ Limited must only acquire or be in possession of bladder kelp and strap kelp that has been taken under a valid special permit issued to Greenwave NZ Limited.
