Under section 42 of the Local Government (Water Services Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024 (“WSPA Act”), the Commerce Commission gives notice that it has determined and published the Wellington Water Foundational Information Disclosure Determination 2025 [2025] NZCC 18 (“Wellington Water FID Determination”).

Summary of the Wellington Water FID Determination

The Wellington Water FID Determination sets targeted and foundational information disclosure requirements for Wellington Water, ahead of the implementation of enduring (i.e., longer-term) ID regulation.

Under the Wellington Water FID Determination, Wellington Water must publicly disclose information relating to its supply of water services to promote the long-term benefit of consumers of water services and enable interested persons to assess whether that purpose is being met. The purpose of foundational information disclosure requirements are set out in full in section 38 of the WSPA Act.
