1. Title

The rules are the Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Rules 2025.

2. Commencement

The rules come into force on 1 August 2025.

3. Empowering Provision

Pursuant to section 40(2) of the Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Act 2002.

The Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand Incorporated, after complying with rule 86 of the Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Rules (No 2) 2002, makes the following rules (which, in the case of the rules containing CPEng standards, have been prepared, and approved by the Chartered Professional Engineers Council, in accordance with section 41 of that Act).

4. Revocation of Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Rules 2002

The Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Rules 2002 (SR 2002/389) are revoked.

6. Administering Agency

The administering agency for is the Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand.

Incorporated (IPENZ) trading as Engineering New Zealand.

7. Secondary Legislation

These rules are secondary legislation for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2019.
