Fisheries (Cape Rodney to Port Jackson Spiny Rock Lobster Closure) Notice 2025 (Notice No. MPI 1922)
This notice is made under section 11 of the Fisheries Act 1996.
This notice is the Fisheries (Cape Rodney to Port Jackson Spiny Rock Lobster Closure) Notice 2025.
This notice comes into force on 1 April 2025.
Marine reserves implemented under the Marine Reserves Act 1971 and any other closures implemented through marine protection legislation prevail over this closure. The protected areas specified within the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 prevail over this closure.
In this Notice:
Act means the Fisheries Act 1996.
Spiny rock lobster means spiny rock lobster (Jasus edwardsii).
Cape Rodney to Port Jackson area means the area of New Zealand fisheries waters bounded by a line:
A person must not take spiny rock lobster from the Cape Rodney to Port Jackson area.
This notice does not restrict the taking of spiny rock lobster taken in accordance with regulations 50–52 of the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 2013 or the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998.
