Notice of Making of Maritime Rules
Pursuant to section 74 of the Legislation Act 2019 and section 448(2) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 (as it applied before 28 October 2021), notice is given that the Associate Minister of Transport on behalf of the Minister of Transport has made the following maritime rules:
These rules were made on 20 March 2025 and will come into force as follows:
(a) except for the amendment rules referred to in paragraphs (b) and (c), these rules come into force on 21 April 2025:
(b) the following amendment rules come into force on 1 September 2025:
(i) amendment subrules 13(2)(b) and (d):
(ii) amendment rule 15:
(iii) amendment subrule 30(b):
(iv) amendment subrule 31(2)(b):
(v) amendment subrule 34(b):
(vi) amendment subrule 35(2)(b):
(vii) amendment subrule 39(f):
(viii) amendment rule 41:
(ix) amendment rule 45:
(c) amendment subrule 54(2) comes into force on 1 December 2025.
The empowering provisions under which these rules were made are sections 34 and 36 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994.
These rules are secondary legislation for the purpose of the Legislation Act 2019.
