Notice of the Final Determination of the Minister for Land Information on Assigning an Undersea Feature Name as Official

Notice was given in the New Zealand Gazette, 5 May 2025, Notice No. 2025-ln2258, of a proposal by the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign a new undersea feature name.

Having completed the statutory process I hereby declare that my final determination for the undersea feature is the official geographic name as described in the Schedule below.

My final determination is made pursuant to sections 20(2) and 20(3) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 and will take effect on 25 November 2025.

Schedule

Official Assigned Undersea Feature Name	Description
Te Puaitaha Canyon	An undersea canyon northwest of the entrance of Te Puaitaha / Breaksea Sound between -45.5354 latitude, 166.6258 longitude and -45.4575 latitude, 166.4508 longitude.
