Notice of New and Altered Geographic Names and Discontinued Crown Protected Area Names for Te Korowai o Wainuiārua Claims Settlement Act 2025
Pursuant to sections 58, 59, 61, 62, 73, 74, 76 and 91 of the Te Korowai o Wainuiārua Claims Settlement Act 2025 (“Settlement Act 2025”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) gives notice of five altered geographic names, two new and altered Crown protected area (“CPA”) names, and four discontinued CPA names as described in the Schedules below.
The official geographic names, official CPA names and discontinued CPA names took effect on 13 May 2025, being the specified date in the Settlement Act 2025.
Pursuant to sections 61, 62(4) and 63(9) of the Settlement Act 2025, in the future the Board may agree to alter any official geographic name listed in Schedules 1 and 2, only with the written consent of the trustees of Te Korowai o Wainuiārua Trust.
