Notice of a Discontinued Crown Protected Area Name, New Crown Protected Area Name and Altered and Confirmed Geographic Names for the Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Act 2025
Pursuant to sections 23, 24 and 25 of the Te Ture Whakatupua mō Te Kāhui Tupua 2025/Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Act 2025 (“Collective Redress Act 2025”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) gives notice of one discontinued Crown protected area (“CPA”) name, one new CPA name, 18 altered geographic names and one official geographic name confirmed as official under this collective redress, as described in the Schedules below.
The discontinued CPA name, official CPA name and official geographic names took effect on 1 April 2025, being the specified date in the Collective Redress Act 2025.
Pursuant to section 26 of the Collective Redress Act 2025, in the future the Board may agree to alter any official geographic name listed in Schedules 3 and 4, only with the written consent of the trustees of Te Tōpuni Ngārahu.
