Pursuant to section 68 of the Civil Defence Emergency Act 2002 I, Tamah Nan Alley, declare that a state of emergency exists in the Clutha District, Otago owing to severe weather event that has caused significant impact (damage) to critical infrastructure, namely, roading, communications and power across the entire Clutha District.

The state of emergency can come into force immediately on the making of this declaration and expires 7 days after the time and date on which it comes into force (unless extended or terminated at an earlier time).
