Pursuant to clause 5(1)(b) of Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Local Government Act 2002, the Minister of Local Government gives the following notice.

1. Title and commencement

1. This notice may be cited as the Local Government (Kawerau District and Whakatane District) Boundary Alteration Notice 2025.
2. This notice comes into force 28 days after the date on which it is published in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Boundary alteration

The boundaries of Kawerau District and Whakatane District are altered by exchanging the areas described in the Schedule to this notice between Kawerau District and Whakatane District.

3. Wards

1. The area described in Clause 1 of the Schedule to this notice ceases to form part of the Kawerau General Ward of Kawerau District and forms part of the Rangitāiki General Ward of Whakatane District.
2. The area described in Clause 2 of the Schedule to this notice ceases to form part of the Rangitāiki General Ward of Whakatane District and forms part of the Kawerau General Ward of Kawerau District.

Schedule

1. Area Excluded from Kawerau District and Included in Whakatane District

That part of Lot 1 DPS 2878 that prior to the coming into force of this notice was part of Kawerau District, comprising approximately 0.3500 hectares.

2. Area Excluded from Whakatane District and Included in Kawerau District

That part of Lot 1 DP 506411 that prior to the coming into force of this notice was part of Whakatane District, comprising approximately 1.7800 hectares.
