Notice of Acceptance of Industry Body Recommendation to Amend the Gas (Downstream Reconciliation) Rules 2008
Following consideration of a recommendation from Gas Industry Company Limited that the previous Minister for Energy received on 15 November 2024, I give notice that I have accepted its recommendation that the Gas (Downstream Reconciliation) Rules 2008 be amended pursuant to section 43F of the Gas Act 1992, and in accordance with sections 43J to 43O of that Act.
The purpose of the Gas (Downstream Reconciliation) Rules 2008 is to establish a set of uniform processes that will enable the fair, efficient, and reliable downstream allocation and reconciliation of downstream gas quantities. Gas Industry Company Limited’s recommendation includes changes to various elements of these rules.
I am satisfied that Gas Industry Company Limited has met the requirements under the Gas Act to make this recommendation to me, including undertaking consultation and analysis. I have accepted the recommendation because I consider that amendments to the Gas (Downstream Reconciliation) Rules 2008 will improve downstream allocation and reconciliation of downstream gas quantities.
Issued at Wellington this 7th day of February 2025.
Hon SIMON WATTS, Minister for Energy.
