Sika Herd of Special Interest, Draft Herd Management Plan—Open for Submissions
In accordance with section 19(5)(a)(i) of the Game Animal Council Act 2013, and pursuant to an assignment of legislative responsibility, I, the Honourable James Rawiri Meager, Minister for Hunting and Fishing, give notice of my intention to make a herd management plan for sika deer (Cervus nippon) in Kaimanawa Forest Park (excluding the part south of the Waipahihi Stream), Kaweka Forest Park (excluding the parts south of the Napier–Taihape Road or Ngaruroro River), and Kaweka Forest Conservation Area.
Before making the herd management plan, I am required by section 19(5)(c) of the Game Animal Council Act 2013 to give interested persons a reasonable time to make submissions on a draft.
Submissions are now invited. Any person or organisation may make a submission in writing.

Hard copies can be viewed by appointment at Department of Conservation offices anywhere in the country.
