Under section 212M of the Education and Training Act 2020, I hereby notify that the Charter School Agency, acting in the name and on behalf of the Crown, and New Zealand Forest Schools Limited have entered into a contract for the establishment of The Forest School as a charter school.

The sponsor of the charter school is New Zealand Forest Schools Limited, and the school will be located at 605 Hibiscus Coast Highway, Hatfields Beach, Orewa, Auckland.

The school will be a primary co-educational school offering in year levels 0 through 8.

The school will open with years 0 through 6 in 2026, phasing in one year level annually.

Education will be delivered on site.

The charter school will operate with the distinguishing character of “Immersive outdoor education where nature is our classroom”.
