Notice of Approval of Hazardous Substance in Special Emergency

Pursuant to section 49H of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) gives notice that on 28 October 2025 it approved the import and use of ProFume Fumigant sulphuryl fluoride to eradicate the presence of West Indian drywood termite (Cryptotermes brevis) in a special emergency declared by the Minister for Biosecurity on 28 July 2025 under section 49B of the HSNO Act. The substance is considered necessary to deal with the presence of the termite and any adverse effects will be adequately managed through a management plan.
