Pursuant to section 69 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 I, Mark Patrick Mitchell, declare that a state of local emergency exists over the Canterbury Civil Defence Emergency Management Group area owing to the severe weather event, including wildfires and severe wind, on 22 October 2025.

The state of local emergency comes into force immediately on the making of this declaration.

The state of local emergency expires 7 days after the time and date on which the state of emergency comes into force.
