Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice 2025 (Notice No. MPI 1955)
This notice replaces the Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice 2025 (Notice No. MPI 1945), published in the New Zealand Gazette, 23 July 2025, Notice No. go3989.
Pursuant to section 60 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries, after complying with that section, gives the following notice.
This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice 2025.
This notice shall come into effect on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
From the date that this notice comes into effect, consent is given for Pelco Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries to hold quota shares for kahawai and blue mackerel having a quota weight equivalent less than or equal to 45.993 percent of the total allowable commercial catch for kahawai and 55.304 percent of the total allowable commercial catch for blue mackerel.
The consent given in clause 3 of this notice is subject to the following condition:
Pelco Holdings Limited must provide Fisheries New Zealand a report detailing how the aggregation has delivered the benefits set out in the application submitted to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries on 4 July 2024, titled “Application to the Minister of Fisheries for consent to hold quota shares in blue mackerel (EMA) and kahawai (KAH) in excess of aggregation limits.”
The required content of the report provided should also give a detailed assessment of any other consequences that have arisen in the years following the granting of consent in clause 3 of this notice.
To evidence the consent condition has been satisfied, Fisheries New Zealand must receive a report from Pelco Holdings Limited no later than exactly five years after this notice comes into effect.
Dated at Wellington this 16th day of September 2025.
Hon SHANE JONES, Minister for Oceans and Fisheries.
