Australian non-government and government investments in significant business assets do not require consent under the Overseas Investment Act 2005 if they are under certain alternative monetary thresholds.

For the period 1 January 2026 to the close of 31 December 2026, the threshold for:

• Australian non-government investments is 676 million New Zealand dollars, and
• Australian government investments is 142 million New Zealand dollars.
