Pursuant to section 167 of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Minister for the Environment hereby gives the following notice.

1. Title and commencement

(1) This notice may be cited as the Resource Management (Approval of Mid Canterbury Water Storage Limited as a Requiring Authority) Notice 2025.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 14th day after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Approval as a requiring authority

Mid Canterbury Water Storage Limited is approved as a requiring authority under section 167(3)(b) of the Resource Management Act 1991 in respect of the particular network utility operation of:

1. the construction, operation and maintenance of water distribution facilities, including storage, pipelines, canals, water races, dams, weirs, and other facilities used or intended to be used for or in connection with any such works in association with the Rangitata Diversion Race or other network utility operators undertaking the distribution of water for supply (including irrigation) in the Canterbury Region; and
2. the associated use, erection, reconstruction, placement, alteration, extension, removal or demolition of any structures in, on or over land (within the meaning of the Resource Management Act 1991) in respect of the storage or distribution (including associated diversion, intake, conveyance, storage and discharge) of water for supply (including irrigation).
