Notice is given of the use of an automated electronic system approved by the Ministry of Social Development.

Use of an Automated Electronic System for the purpose of regranting Jobseeker Support Benefit under the Social Security Act 2018

To reduce the burden on staff required to process reapplications of Jobseeker Support and maximise efficiencies, the Ministry of Social Development will use Automated Decision-Making to regrant some Jobseeker Support Benefits in line with the new requirements for regrant set out in the Social Security Act 2018.

Automated Decision-Making will be used to regrant Jobseeker Support in certain circumstances, where the client:

• completes the reapplication online
• has completed all the components of their reapplication (including by having their eligibility and employment component met through a specific engagement)
• has confirmed they understand and agree to their obligations and that they intend to reapply for benefit
• has no change in their circumstances
• does so before the benefit expires.
