I, Jamie Bamford, acting pursuant to section 55 of the Customs and Excise Act 2018, hereby amend the Designation of Customs Airports notice dated 27 September 2005 (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 29 September 2005, No. 165, page 4135) to impose the following conditions and restrictions on the airport operated by Waikato Regional Airport Limited (“Hamilton Airport”):

  1. The arrival into and departure from New Zealand of craft at Hamilton Airport shall be limited to:
    1. One scheduled international arrival and one scheduled international departure per day, each carrying a maximum of 188 passengers.
    2. Chartered or private aircraft carrying a maximum of 25 passengers that are to arrive or depart during Customs’ working hours at Hamilton Airport. Waikato Regional Airport Limited must obtain Customs’ prior approval for any arrival or departure under this paragraph and must give at least five days’ written notice in seeking such approval.
    3. Flights carried out for maintenance purposes that are to arrive or depart during Customs’ working hours at Hamilton Airport and carry no cargo other than parts required to carry out maintenance. Waikato Regional Airport Limited must obtain Customs’ prior approval for any arrival or departure under this paragraph and must give at least two days’ written notice in seeking such approval.
    4. Chartered or private aircraft carrying a maximum of 25 passengers, and flights carried out for maintenance purposes carrying no cargo other than parts required to carry out maintenance, that are to arrive or depart outside of Customs’ working hours at Hamilton Airport. Waikato Regional Airport Limited must obtain Customs’ prior approval for any arrival or departure under this paragraph and must give at least ten days’ written notice in seeking such approval.
    5. Medical flights, including flights carried out by air ambulances and flights carried out by medical staff transporting donor organs, arriving or departing at any time from Hamilton Airport. Waikato Regional Airport Limited must obtain Customs’ prior approval for any arrival or departure under this paragraph and must give at least two days’ written notice in seeking such approval.
    6. Chartered or private aircraft carrying more than 25 passengers. Waikato Regional Airport Limited must obtain Customs’ prior approval for any arrival or departure under this paragraph and must give at least twenty days’ written notice in seeking such approval.

The Amendment of Customs Airport Designation – Waikato Regional Airport notice dated 30 November 2023 (as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 30 November 2023, Notice No. 2023-go5565) is hereby revoked.
