This notice is issued pursuant to Regulation 28 of the Accident Compensation (Experience Rating) Regulations 2025 and declares the shooting at 1 Queen Street, Auckland on 20 July 2023 to be an adverse event.

2. Commencement

The notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. Shooting events are adverse events

The shooting event that occurred at 1 Queen Street, Auckland on 20 July 2023 is an adverse event.

Explanatory Note

This note is for explanatory purposes only.

The effect of this notice is that the Accident Compensation (Experience Rating) Regulations 2025 apply to a qualifying claim resulting directly or indirectly from the shooting event of 20 July 2023 only if the person whose levy is affected contributed materially to the injury for which the qualifying claim is made.
