Notice of Application to Registered Trade Name Product (Notice No. MPI 71)

Notice is given under section 14(1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (“Act”), of the following application to vary the conditions of a registered trade name product under section 9(2) of the Act:

Trade Name: STANDOUT Mineralised Drench for Sheep

Reference: A012165

Active Ingredients and Concentrations:

1g/L Abamectin, 40g/L Levamisole Hcl, 50g/L Closantel, 0.5g/L Selenium And 2.2g/L Cobalt.

Formulation Type: Aqueous suspension

Application Method / Administration Route:

Oral drench. 1mL/5kg body weight delivering 0.2mg/kg Abamectin, 8mg/kg Levamisole HCl, 10mg/kg Closantel, 0.1mg/kg Selenium and 0.44mg/kg Cobalt.

Use Claim:

For the treatment and control of internal parasites in sheep, including those with resistance to avermectin/milbemycin, benzimidazole or levamisole/morantel families. includes selenium and cobalt as supplements only.

Other Information:

Sheep: For the effective treatment and control of susceptible strains of the following species of gastrointestinal worms.

Gastrointestinal nematodes: For the treatment and control of the following mature and immature gastrointestinal parasites: Barber’s Pole Worm (Haemonchus spp.), Brown stomach worms (Teladorsagia circumcincta & Teladorsagia trifurcata), Stomach hair worm (Trichostrongylus axei), Thin-necked intestinal worms (Nematodirus Spathiger & Nematodirus filicollis), Black scour worms (Trichostrongylus colubriformis & Trichostrongylus vitrinus), Small intestinal worm (Cooperia curtecei), Large-mouth bowel worm (Chaberia ovina), Whipworms (Trichuris spp), Nodular worm (Oesophagostomum venulosum), Threadworm (Strongyloides papillosus)

Lungworm: Dictyocaulus filaria

Liver Fluke (Fasciola hepatica) – mature fluke and immature forms including 6-week old stages. Reduces the output of viable fluke eggs.

Itch mite (Psorergates ovis)

Nasal Bot (Oestrus ovis)

Anthelmintic resistant strains: STANDOUT is effective against those gastrointestinal worms that have resistance to the avermectin/milbemycin, benzimidazole or levamisole/morantel anthelmintic action families. It is also effective against Barber’s Pole Worm (Haemonchus contortus) strains with emerging resistance to closantel.

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general concerning this application.

Under sections 16 and 17 of the Act, a written submission:

  1. must state in full the reasons for making the submission;
  2. may state any decision sought on that application; and
  3. must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of this notice.

Each submission must state the trade name product(s) to which it relates. Under section 18 of the Act, a copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant.
