Pursuant to section 40AA(5) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 (“MTA”), the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions from the Maritime Rules in accordance with section 40AA(1)(a) during the period 6 November to 12 November 2025 inclusive:

Navigation Safety Rules

91.5(1) & (2)

No person under the age of 15 years shall be in charge of, or propel or navigate a power driven vessel unless under direct supervision and an owner of a power driver vessel must not allow this only in respect to junior drivers listed in the appendix of this exemption taking part in events sanctioned by the New Zealand Powerboat Association Incorporated as indicated in their 2025/2026 race calendar provided to Maritime New Zealand.
