In accordance with section 446(a) and (b) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 (“Act”), Maritime New Zealand, on behalf of the Associate Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make the following maritime rules (“proposed maritime rules”):

Proposed Regulatory Amendments Package (RAP 2.0) Maritime Rules Amendments 2025 (No 3)

The proposed maritime rules, included in the Invitation to Comment document (“Regulatory Amendments Package 2.0 (RAP 2.0): Proposed Rules Changes to Replace General Exemptions”), contain a wide range of amendments for the purpose of transferring into the rules those matters that were previously addressed in expired or expiring general exemptions granted under the Act.

Comments are invited on the proposed maritime rules, which were developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Consultation will commence on 18 September 2025.

Submissions must be made by email or post by 5.00pm on 24 October 2025.
