This notice notifies the making and publication of compliance rules under section 49 of the Water Services Act 2021 (“Act”) on 29 November 2024 by the Chief Executive of Taumata Arowai – the Water Services Regulator (“Taumata Arowai”), acting under delegated authority:

• Drinking Water Quality Assurance (Very Small to Medium Drinking Water Supplies) Amendment Rules 2024 (“the Amendment Rules”).

1. Publication of Secondary Legislation

The Amendment Rules can be viewed on the Taumata Arowai website https://www.taumataarowai.govt.nz.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to notify the publication of the amended compliance rules setting out requirements relating to the performance of functions or duties under Part 2 of the Act. The Amendment Rules amend the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules 2022.

3. Empowering Provisions

Water Services Act 2021, section 49 and Legislation Act 2019, section 48.

4. Commencement

The Amendment Rules come into force on 1 January 2025.

5. Administering Agency

Taumata Arowai is the administering agency for the Amendment Rules.

6. Secondary Legislation

The Amendment Rules are secondary legislation for the purpose of the Legislation Act 2019.
