Fisheries (Popotai Taumaka Temporary Closure) Notice 2024 (MPI 1892)
This notice is issued under section 186B of the Fisheries Act 1996.
This notice is the Fisheries (Popotai Taumaka Temporary Closure) Notice 2024.
This notice comes into force on 2 December 2024.
This notice is revoked on the close of 30 November 2025.
(1) A person must not take blackfoot pāua or yellowfoot pāua from the Popotai Taumaka closure area while this notice is in force.
(2) In this clause –
blackfoot pāua means shellfish of the species Haliotis iris.
yellowfoot pāua means shellfish of the species Haliotis australis.
(3) Popotai Taumaka Closure Area means all those South Island fisheries waters enclosed by a line every point of which is 1.0 km from the mean high-water mark of the Open Bay Islands.
