The Commerce Commission (“Commission”) gives notice under section 52W of the Commerce Act 1986 (“Act”) that it has amended the Electricity Distribution Services Input Methodologies Determination 2012 [2012] NZCC 26 (“EDB IMs”), which apply to electricity distribution businesses. The amendments are secondary legislation made under Part 4 of the Act and the Legislation Act 2019.

The amendments are set out in the Electricity Distribution Services Input Methodologies (Wash-up Amounts) Amendment Determination 2024 [2024] NZCC 27 (“amendment determination”).

The amendment determination comes into force on 20 November 2024 and amends the EDB IMs to correct errors in the revenue wash-up and reduce the volatility of the revenue path for electricity distribution businesses.

Copies of the amendment determination, and the supporting reasons paper, are available on the Commission’s website at https://comcom.govt.nz/regulated-industries/electricity-lines/projects/2025-reset-of-the-electricity-default-price-quality-path and for inspection free of charge, or for purchase at a reasonable price, at the Commission’s office at 44 The Terrace, Wellington (during ordinary office hours).

Dated at Wellington this 20th day of November 2024.
