The Commerce Commission (“Commission”) gives notice that under the Legislation Act 2019 and Part 4 of the Commerce Act 1986 (“Act”), it has determined and published the Electricity Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2025 [2024] NZCC 28 (“DPP4 Determination”).

Summary of the DPP4 Determination

Under section 53P(1) of the Act, the DPP4 Determination:

  • amends the Electricity Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2020 [2019] NZCC 21; and
  • resets the starting prices, rates of change, and quality standards for a five-year regulatory period ending 31 March 2030 for all non-exempt electricity distribution businesses, except Aurora Energy Limited.

The DPP4 Determination does not apply to Aurora Energy Limited until 1 April 2026, being the day after the Aurora Energy Limited Electricity Distribution Customised Price-Quality Path Determination 2021 [2021] NZCC 3 ends.
