Betting Rules Amendment Notice (No.6) 2024
Pursuant to sections 76 and 78 of the Racing Industry Act 2020, TAB New Zealand hereby gives notice of the following amendments to the Betting Rules published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 30 April 2024, Notice No. 2024-sl1731.

These amendments to the Betting Rules are as follows:

DEFINITIONS

“Betcha Tote” Is a bet type for Hong Kong racing in which winning bets are paid out based on the tote dividend of TAB Totalisator Betting.

“Quadrella”, “Quaddie” A bet where you are required to select the 1st place getter in 4 nominated races.

“Starting Price”, “SP” For all Australian racing this is the final fixed price offered by us at the time the race starts. For international racing other than French racing, this is the final fixed price offered by us. For French racing, this is outlined in rule 22 below.
“Starting Price Exotic(s)” Is an Exotic Bet that is struck at the Starting Price offered by us at the time the race starts.

“TAB Tote Totalisator Betting” is a bet type in which all stakes are placed into a pool. The dividend is calculated from the total amount wagered in the pool and the total number of winning tickets after the official race result is known. Dividends are declared after deductions have been made from the pool.

4. EXOTIC BETTING
4.1 All exotic bet types can be Fixed Odds Exotic bets or Starting Price Exotic bets.
4.2 All quinella bet qualifications shall be governed by the following rules:
(a) All quinella bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st and 2nd place, in any order, to be successful.
(b) All boxed quinella bets shall require any of the selections to finish in 1st and 2nd place, in any order, to be successful.
(c) All banker quinella bets shall require any of the nominated selections to finish in the correct place (i.e. 1st or 2nd) with any of the remaining selections finishing in the remaining placing as selected. For the avoidance of doubt, if a runner is selected for a fixed position, then that runner is omitted from being in any other finishing positions.
(d) If a runner is scratched all lines/combinations in a bet including that runner will be refunded.
4.3 All exacta bet qualifications shall be governed by the following rules:
(a) All exacta bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st and 2nd place, in correct order, to be successful.
(b) All boxed exacta bets shall require any of the selections to finish in 1st and 2nd place, in any order, to be successful.
(c) All banker exacta bets shall require any of the nominated selections to finish in the nominated position (i.e. 1st or 2nd) with any of the remaining selections finishing in the remaining position as selected. For the avoidance of doubt, if a runner is selected for a fixed position, then that runner is omitted from being in any other finishing positions.
(d) If a runner is scratched all lines/combinations in a bet including that runner will be refunded.
4.4 All trifecta bet qualifications shall be governed by the following rules:
(a) All trifecta bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, in correct order, to be successful.
(b) All boxed trifecta bets shall require any of the selections to finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, in correct order, to be successful.
(c) All banker trifecta bets shall require any of the nominated selections to finish in the correct position (i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd) with any of the remaining selections finishing in the remaining positions as selected. For the avoidance of doubt, if a runner is selected for a fixed position, then that runner is omitted from being in any other finishing positions.
(d) If a runner is scratched all lines/combinations in a bet including that runner will be refunded.
4.5 All first four bet qualifications shall be governed by the following rules:
(a) All first four bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, in correct order, to be successful.
(b) All boxed first four bets shall require any of the selections to finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, in correct order, to be successful.
(c) All banker first four bets shall require any of the nominated selections to finish in the correct position (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th) with any of the remaining selections finishing in the remaining positions as selected. For the avoidance of doubt, if a runner is selected for a fixed position, then that runner is omitted from being in any other finishing positions.
4.6 All Quadrella, Treble, Daily Double, Running Double bet qualifications shall be governed by the following rules:
(a) All Quadrella, Treble, Daily Double, Running Double bets shall require the selections to finish 1st in respective races to be successful.
(b) Should a leg of a Quadrella, Treble, Daily Double or Running Double be abandoned for any reason, all selections will be treated as winners for that leg.
(b) Scratching
If a runner is scratched all lines/combinations in a bet including that runner will be void, and the aggregate stake of those combinations will be evenly distributed between the remaining combinations.
If all runners in a leg are scratched a full refund of that bet will be issued.
(c) Deductions
In the event of a scratching, win deductions will apply in accordance with Rule 7.
(d) Abandonment
Where one or more legs in a combination is abandoned, then all live combinations will be declared void and refunded.
GENERAL RULES RELATING TO TAB TOTALISATOR RACE INVESTMENTS
1. INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION
The terms and conditions within this schedule (Schedule 1) only apply to totalisator pools (and markets offered upon them) that are operated by us, the TAB, or in which we comingle our pool with others.

GENERAL RULES RELATING TO BETCHA TOTE RACE INVESTMENTS
1. APPLICATION
The Betcha Tote is a bet type for Hong Kong racing in which winning bets are paid out based on the tote dividend of the TAB Totalisator Betting pools. The dividend is not known when the bet is placed and is determined after TAB Totalisator betting has closed.
2. WIN BETTING
All win bets require the selection to finish in 1st place to be successful.
3. PLACE BETTING
3.1 All place bets require the selections to finish in:
(a) 1st or 2nd place when the field size is 6 or less;
(b) 1st, 2nd or 3rd place when the field size is 7 to 20;
(c) 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place when the field size is 21 or more.
All place bets will be declared void when the field size is 4 or less (3 Place dividend) or when the filed size is 3 or less (2 Place Dividend).
4. EXOTIC BETTING
4.1 Quinella
(a) All quinella bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st and 2nd place, in any order, to be successful.
(b) All quinella bets will be declared void if the field size is 2 or less.
4.2 Trifecta
(a) All trifecta bets shall require the selections to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, in correct order, to be successful.
(b) All trifecta bets will be declared void if the field size is 3 or less.
4.3 First4
(a) All first4 bets shall require the selections to finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place, in correct order, to be successful.
(b) All first4 bets will be declared void if the field size is 3 or less.
4.4 Double, Treble and Quadrella
(a) All Quadrella, Treble, Daily Double, Running Double and Big6 bets shall require the selections to finish 1st in respective races to be successful.
(b) If a selected runner is declared a non-runner or is scratched after the bet is confirmed, the removed runner will be replaced by the tote substitute.
(c) Should a leg of a Quadrella, Treble, Daily Double, Running Double or Big6 be abandoned for any reason, all selections will be treated as winners for that leg.
These Rules come into force on 2 August 2024.
