Physiotherapy Board (Fees) Notice 2024

This notice sets out the fees prescribed by the Physiotherapy Board pursuant to section 130 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (“Act”), and the disciplinary levy set by the Physiotherapy Board under section 131 of the Act.

This notice replaces the previous Physiotherapy Board fees notice with effect from this notice’s commencement date.

Notice

1. Title and commencement

This notice may be cited as the Physiotherapy (Fees) Notice 2024 and shall come into force from 1 April 2025. The fee to apply for an annual practising certificate (APC), and the fee for retention of an entry of a non-practising physiotherapist on the Register apply with respect to the practising year commencing 1 April 2025 and to all subsequent practising years.

2. Fees and Levy

The Physiotherapy Board prescribes the fees and levy, payable to the Board, specified in the Schedule to this notice.

3. Tax

The fees and levy are inclusive of goods and services tax.

Applications for Annual Practising Certificates

Application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant holds a current APC and the Board receives a duly completed application (including the fee set by the Board) before 1 April of the practising year for which the application is submitted.

Note: this fee includes the disciplinary levy imposed under section 131 of the Act.

Late application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant held an APC on 31 March of the practising year immediately prior to the practising year for which the application is submitted but the Board does not receive a duly completed application (including the fee set by the Board) before 1 April of the practising year for which the application is submitted.

Note: this fee includes the disciplinary levy imposed under section 131 of the Act.

Application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant either did not hold an APC in the practising year immediately prior to the practising year for which the application is submitted or held such an APC but subsequently applied for retention of the applicant’s entry on the Register as a non-practising physiotherapist and paid the fee set by the Board for such application. This fee does not apply to physiotherapists who apply for a Return to Practice Programme.

Reaccreditation

Re-accreditation of an educational institution accredited by the Board to provide 1 or more qualifications prescribed by the Board

An amount sufficient to reimburse the Board for all costs and expenses actually and reasonably incurred for the purpose of assessing and evaluating such educational institution and its degrees and courses of study relating to physiotherapy.

Such costs and expenses may include, without limitation:

  1. professional fees for services of accreditation panel members;
  2. travel, accommodation, and travel-related costs incurred by accreditation panel members in connection with site visits;
  3. administration expenses for teleconference meetings, printing, postage, and communications.

Competence programmes

Fees payable by a practitioner who is required to undertake a competence programme set or recognised by the Board under section 40 of the Act

An amount that is sufficient to reimburse the Board for all costs and expenses actually and reasonably incurred by the Board in relation to the competence programme that applies to the practitioner.

Such costs and expenses may include, without limitation:

  1. fees for service providers engaged by the Board in relation to the competence programme;
  2. travel, accommodation, and travel-related costs incurred in connection with site visits;
  3. administration expenses for teleconference meetings, printing, postage, and communications.

Supervision

Fees payable by a practitioner who is the subject of a condition included in the practitioner’s scope of practice requiring the practitioner to practise subject to the supervision of 1 or more nominated health practitioners or health practitioners of a stated class.

An amount that is sufficient to reimburse the Board for all costs and expenses actually and reasonably incurred by the Board in relation to the supervision of the practitioner. Such costs and expenses may include, without limitation:

  1. fees for persons engaged by the Board to provide supervision;
  2. travel, accommodation, and travel-related costs incurred in connection with site visits;
  3. administration expenses for teleconference meetings, printing, postage, and communication.
