Sections 72 and 94B of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Background

On 8 February 2024 at 10.50am, I, Robin Hugh Scott, declared a state of local emergency existed in Waiau Aparima Ward owing to erosion to foreshore threatening persons and property.

I am now terminating the state of local emergency regarding the Waiau Aparima Ward and giving notice of a transition period over the Waiau Aparima Ward.

1. Termination of a state of local emergency for Southland

Pursuant to section 72 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Robin Hugh Scott, terminate the state of local emergency described above.

The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect immediately on the making of this declaration.

2. Notice of local transition period for the Waiau Aparima Ward

Pursuant to section 94B of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Robin Hugh Scott, give notice of a local transition period over the Waiau Aparima Ward owing to the erosion to foreshore threatening persons and property.

This transition period –

1. Comes into force immediately on the execution of this declaration and notice;
2. is in force for 28 days;
3. ends at 7.00am on 14 April 2024, unless extended or terminated earlier.
