Notice of Acceptance of Industry Body Recommendation to Amend the Gas Governance (Critical Contingency Management) Regulations 2008
Following consideration of a recommendation from Gas Industry Company Limited that I received on 2 July 2024, I give notice that I have accepted its recommendation that the Gas Governance (Critical Contingency Management) Regulations 2008 be amended pursuant to sections 43F(2)(e) and 43S of the Gas Act 1992, and in accordance with sections 43J to 43O of that Act.
The purpose of the Gas Governance (Critical Contingency Management) Regulations 2008 is to achieve the effective management of critical gas outages and other security of supply contingencies without compromising long-term security of supply. Gas Industry Company Limited’s recommendation includes changes to various elements of these regulations.
I am satisfied that Gas Industry Company Limited has met the requirements under the Gas Act to make this recommendation to me, including undertaking consultation and analysis. I have accepted the recommendation because I consider that amendments to the Gas Governance (Critical Contingency Management) Regulations 2008 will improve the regime for managing critical contingencies in the gas sector.
Issued at Wellington this 23rd day of September 2024.
