Notice of Payment into Victims’ Claims Trust Account
A compensation payment has been made to Jaden James Scott in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).
The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Jaden James Scott to make claims against it.
Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Jaden James Scott.
On 19 August 2024, $20,000.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Jaden James Scott.
The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Jaden James Scott until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
Any person who has been a victim of Jaden James Scott, in respect of an offence for which Jaden James Scott was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Jaden James Scott.
Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
