Pursuant to section 40AA(1)(a) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions from the Maritime Rules on 11 October 2024:

19.3

Requirement to hold Maritime Transport Operator Certificate

The Event Crew 2024 Limited, and the Master – only in respect to the vessels up to 12 metres in length being operated only for the purpose of acting as a marshal vessel providing supervision / surveillance of, and assistance to participants, as well as responding to on-water emergencies or on-water safety and emergency response for the 2024/25 Banana Boat New Zealand Ocean Swim Series, 2024/25 Harcourts Cooper & Co Beach Series, and 2024/25 Kohi Summer Swim Series; and not otherwise operating as a commercial ship

A ship must have a valid Certificate of Survey issued under rule 44.41 before it can be operated

The Event Crew 2024 Limited, and the Master – only in respect to the requirement for the Master to hold a Skipper Restricted Limits (or equivalent) certificate of competency when operating in restricted limits
