In accordance with section 446(a) and (b) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Chief Executive of Maritime New Zealand (Director), by way of delegated authority, gives notice of the Associate Minister of Transport’s intention to make the following maritime rules:

Proposed Regulatory Amendments Package (RAP1) Maritime Rules Amendments 2024

The proposed maritime rules, included in the Invitation to Comment document (“Regulatory Amendments Package 2024: Non-Commercial Use of Commercial Vessels and SeaCert”), contain a wide range of amendments, for the following purposes:

  • To facilitate entry to the sector for maritime workers under the SeaCert framework
  • To clarify and make new provisions for non-commercial use of commercial ships operating in the maritime operator safety system (MOSS)
  • To make a number of minor corrections and clarifications to various rules

Comments are invited on the above proposed rules developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Consultation will commence on 4 October 2024.

Submissions must be made by email or post by 5.00pm on 15 November 2024.
