Pursuant to sections 80L and 80M of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), the Minister for the Environment gives the following notice.

1. Title and Commencement

(1) This notice is the Resource Management (Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Tauranga City Council and Wellington City Council) Amendment Notice 2023 (No.2).

(2) This notice shall come into force on the date of publication.

2. Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process

Minister for the Environment’s Amended Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Wellington City Council

In accordance with sections 80L and 80M of the RMA, the Minister for the Environment directs Wellington City Council to notify decisions on the independent hearings panel’s recommendations for those parts of the Proposed District Plan subject to the intensification streamlined planning process in accordance with clause 102 of Schedule 1 of the RMA by 20 March 2024.

3. Principal Notice

This notice amends “The Resource Management (Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Tauranga City Council and Wellington City Council) Notice 2022” published in the New Zealand Gazette, 25 May 2022, Notice No. 2022-sl2033, only to the extent specified in this notice.

This notice does not amend “The Resource Management (Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Tauranga City Council and Wellington City Council) Amendment Notice 2022” published in the New Zealand Gazette, 16 December 2022, Notice No. 2022-sl5566.

This notice does not amend “The Resource Management (Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Tauranga City Council and Wellington City Council) Amendment Notice 2023” published in the New Zealand Gazette, 16 August 2023, Notice No. 2023-sl3773.

Notes

1. This Direction must be complied with.
2. Part 6 of Schedule 1 of the RMA specifies the requirements of any Intensification Streamlined Planning Process.
3. Section 80M of the RMA provides the Minister the ability to amend this Direction on their own initiative or following a request from one or more of the specified territorial authorities named in this direction.
4. Wellington City Council may, in accordance with section 80M of the RMA apply in writing to the Minister for the Environment for an amendment to the Direction.
