Fisheries (Te Rāhui o Moremore Temporary Closure) Notice 2023 (MPI 1656)

Under section 186A of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries, after complying with the requirements of that section, gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Te Rāhui o Moremore Temporary Closure) Notice 2023.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on 22 June 2023.

3. Revocation of this notice

This notice is revoked on the close of 21 June 2025.

4. Te Rāhui o Moremore is closed in respect of any species of fish, aquatic life, or seaweed

(1) A person must not take any species of fish, aquatic life, or seaweed from Te Rāhui o Moremore closure area while this notice is in force.

(2) In this clause, Te Rāhui o Moremore closure area means all those New Zealand fisheries waters within the following lines -

  1. Starting at a point offshore approximately 6km northeast of the Port of Napier at 39° 26.160′S and 176° 58.440′E; then
  2. Proceeding in a straight line due east for approximately 325m to a point offshore at 39° 26.160′S and 176° 58.680′E; then
  3. Proceeding in a straight line due south for approximately 338m to a point offshore at 39° 26.340′S and 176° 58.680′E; then
  4. Proceeding in a straight line due west for approximately 325m to a point offshore at 39° 26.340′S and 176° 58.440′E; then
  5. Proceeding in a straight line due north for approximately 338m to the starting point.
