Summary of Notice/s Permitting Freedom Camping at Lake Dunstan and Lake Pukaki Sites
In accordance with section 19B(2) of the Freedom Camping Act 2011, the Commissioner of Crown Lands appointed under section 24AA(1) of the Land Act 1948, gives notice that freedom camping will be permitted by freedom camping notices covering sites known as Bendigo, Champagne Gully, Jacksons Inlet, Lowburn and Pines Camp.
Freedom Camping Notices (which can be found on Land Information New Zealand’s website https://www.linz.govt.nz/camping-areas) define the sites where freedom camping is permitted and set out restrictions and conditions that will apply. Restrictions may include matters such as duration of stay, season of use and/or hours of use.
Freedom Camping notices are held at Land Information New Zealand’s Christchurch Office and are available for inspection electronically.
Copies of the notices may be obtained through the offices of Land Information New Zealand on request and on payment of a reasonable amount to cover costs of reproducing the notices.
The freedom camping notices will come into force on 9 June 2023.
