Notice of Intention to Take Land for Road—Beaumont Bridge Replacement, Beaumont, Otago

Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Land Information proposes to take under the Public Works Act 1981 the land described in the Schedule to this notice (“land”).

The land is required in relation to the the Beaumont Bridge Replacement Project. The land described in the Schedule is already formed as road and is required to legalise its existing use. The current intersection between State Highway 1 Rongahere Road will be closed for safety reasons and part of Rongahere Road will be left without legal formed access as the land in the Schedule is formed as road but held in private ownership. The land needs to be formalised as road to provide legal and formed access to other properties.

The owner of the land has been served with notice of the Minister for Land Information’s intention to take the land and advised of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, 20 Lichfield Street, Christchurch, or by post to PO Box 2069, Christchurch 8013, within 20 working days after the date of the second publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
