Notice of New and Altered Official Geographic Names and Discontinued Crown Protected Area Names for Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Claims Settlement Act 2022
Pursuant to sections 42, 43, 49, 51, 62, 64, 70 and 80 of the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Claims Settlement Act 2022 (“Settlement Act 2022”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) gives notice of 30 new and altered official geographic names and four discontinued Crown protected area (“CPA”) names, as described in the Schedules below.
The new and altered official geographic names and discontinued CPA names took effect on 7 March 2023 being the settlement date specified in the Settlement Act 2022. Pursuant to section 44 of the Settlement Act 2022, the Board may in the future agree to alter any official geographic name listed in Schedule 1 with the written consent of the trustees of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust.
