Notice of Proposals to Assign, Alter and Approve Geographic Names

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“Act”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa gives notice of proposals to assign new and alter and approve existing geographic names as specified in the Schedule below.

Submissions on these proposed geographic names may be made on the form linked from, by email to:, or by writing to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145.

In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state with reasons whether a proposal is supported or objected to. If an objection is made, then the submission may suggest another name or support the existing name, if any.

Meyer Pass

A pass at ~700m on Meyers Pass Road on Campbell Hills, approximately 25km west-northwest of Waimate and 20km east-northeast of Kurow. NZTopo50-CA17 193497. Assigning a new name as official (noting Meyers Pass in long term local use).

Meyer Creek

A stream flowing from north of Meyer Pass (proposed) south then east for approximately for approximately 9.5km to its confluence with Waihao River South Branch. NZTopo50-CA18 209522 to CA18 260495. Alteration from Meyers Creek (recorded name).
